Great Mummy today…
2 08 2007The school has a cake stall fundraiser today. While N is gluten intollerant & can’t eat cake, I thought I’d still bake something - a gluten free cake that we could then buy back.
After the boys were in bed, I mixed up the cake & put it in the oven, then sat down to watch TV. I ended up dozing on the couch and forgot all about the cake
Note to self: if you are baking while tired, make sure to put the timer on!
So, I’m going to go to the cake stall today & give them some money toward the fundraiser & not buy anything!

LOL - sounds like something I would do!
I count buying sponge cake and icing it as baking a cake!!
Unfortunately buying a premade cake was not an option as N can’t eat it! lol. I gave them $10 toward the cake stall & walked away feeling very healthy around those eating cupcakes (and also ver jealous! lol)
Lol! That’s a good idea Melissa. Master J’s primary school (some years ago) decided one year to just ask each family for a donation in lieu of any fundraising for the year.
My kindy used to do that as well….we called it a “Bakeless Cake Stall’ and everyone just got to decide how much they would pay for a cake and donate that. Saved all the stress of having to produce something that was more than a inch flat pancake, or didn’t come out of a packet and you don’t get the same competitive mum issues when it’s just a donation
That is such a brilliant idea
Did it go well?
That is a great idea, how clever and stressless! Mmmmm cake….
All I can say is at least you tired. I am not the baker in our house. Adrian does all that sort of stuff. I can do it but it never seems to turn out quite as good as his. He use to do alot more but since he moved roles and doesnt get to cook as much as work he never has the time. At least when its his days off we still get YUMMY Dinners.
The cake-less stall sounds like a great idea.
