Managing without a car

3 03 2007

onehautemama asked in my School Photo’s how I manage without a car.  It’s mostly that I don’t own a car - I do have access to my parents car if I really need one.

However, school is about a 7 minute walk from home, and daycare is a 20 minute walk.  Last year kinder was also a 7 minute walk.  We have a fantastic group of shops near us that includes a post office, chemist & milk bar.  I use my parents car to do the supermarket shopping.  We are also very close to the bus stop and train station, which makes outings easy :)  Even church is a 20 minute walk away.

Because I’m walking just about everywhere, I’m getting exercise without trying - and it’s helping lose/maintain weight :)

With everything being local, I am able to manage without a car for most things :)

I need to go for more walks :) That’s great that you have everything so close by. I’d love to cut my car use, I’m becoming all green and worried about mother earth in my old age.

I love that it forces me to walk - I lost a pile of weight because of it :) And I hate exercise.
